Bushwalks around North Epping and West Pennant Hills

Whale Rock Circuit - Easy
5km 2-3hrs (depending on what you want to see)
First we will all meet at the bottom of Boundary Road just below the local bowling Club. Then we will head down to the first track junction, there you will see the 'famous' whale rock of which this track is named after. We will then turn left and head down toward the natural dam in the river where the water has spilled out into a form of a lake. Then we will head past the first river crossing where there are remnants of subtropical and temperate rainforest. We will then go past a large clump of Wild Ginger and walk along the creek, where there is a forest of tree ferns about 3-4m high. After about another hour or so we will have reached the end of the walk, which comes out right near Beecroft Road and from there its a simple 10 minute walk to the train station for a train ride back to the city.

Hanover Ave. Walk - Medium
6km 3-4hrs (again depending)
Hanover Ave. is the second left off Wood St. which is off Boundary Road. Once you get to Hanover go right to the end and walk across the grassy area till you come to a pile of rocks, I'll be there waiting for the rest of the group. From there we will go down the slope (watching out for spider webs), while you walk down the track you will notice the ecosystem changes from grassland, to shrubland, to woodland. It will be then that we will reach the Southern Part of the Great Northern Walk, which eventually goes up to Newcastle. On this part of the walk you will notice the high walls of sandstone are very moist and teeming with mosses and ferns. You will see some sundews (Drosera) just below the rocks surviving by using the water leaking out of the rocks for moisture and dissolved minerals. After crossing the third Cataract you see a sign stating the official start of the Great Northern Walk, this will be where we will have our lunch/morning tea break. After our rest we will have our walk back, pointing out a few other interesting small plants that we didn't get to see on the way here.

Just for $20.00 I will guarantee an exciting bushwalk in a safe, well structured environment. It is safe for kids and the circuit also provides facilities for wheelchair access. You will gain extensive knowledge of the native flora and fauna, which will be useful for creating your own native garden at home whether you are overseas or in Australia. Or just knowledge gained, which you can use in you future walks . I'm sure you will find this tour a memorable experience and look forward to hearing from you to book your walk with our group.
